Elegant 1950’s Cocktail Cabinet, lovely rich walnut wood with a decorative lighter wood (possibly beech) sectional trim. The doors of the base cabinet are beautifully shaped with a gentle Converse arc that reveals the light wood. Simple bakelite cabinet doorknobs subtly reflect the lighter accent wood colour. The top, pull-down, cupboard door mechanism simultaneously lifts the lid of the cabinet to reveal the mirrored interior of the home bar area. The mirrors are decorated with the original gold stripes and fun, linear illustrations, typical of the era (graphic martini glasses and a chianti bottle encapsulate the glamour of the cocktail hour!). We have replaced the original mains-operated interior light with a USB-chargeable strip light.
This is a wonderful example of a stylish, slimline, and unimposing home bar that will add a sense of refined glamour to everything from soirees and celebrations to cosy nights in.
This is in great vintage condition with just the odd bump, bruise, and scratch as one would expect for a piece that has shared so many memorable moments! The mirrors to the interior bar have some foxing and scratches and the metal door supports have discoloration and pitting as can be assessed from the images. We are certain that you will agree that this only adds to the character as it does not affect function.
We have stripped away the original exterior varnish and refinished it with Danish oil. The interior shelves of the lower cabinet and the sides of the bar area have been lined with beautiful green handmade paper that has been protected with several coats of varnish.
The original mains-operated light fitting has been removed and replaced with a USB chargeable strip light.
