Description
A great looking, stylish and practical light/blonde wood dining table that extends from a good sized round, into a substantial oval. The additional two leaves are independent of the main table and can be used singularly or together, as required. The thoughtfully considered design of the pedestal successfully combines aesthetic with practicality. It’s elegant, sculptural form is synonymous with Danish mid century style. Upon extension, the pedestal divides to form a pair of end legs that are inset from the table edge; this simple but effective design means that the number of seats is not disrupted/restricted by the table legs.
Whilst the original makers label has disappeared we can confidently attribute this piece to Danish furniture maker Skovby and date it to the late 1960’s/1970’s
It should be noted that, although structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing, this table has had a very busy previous life. In certain lights, the main circular table top shows areas of undulation, these can also be felt if you run your hand over the surface. It has been difficult to show this damage in the images as they are not instantly noticeable and it also depends on the viewing angle and lighting direction. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about this, I would like to add that I feel that they will not worsen with use and that for day to day dining this remains a fabulous table. We have stripped, cleaned, and refinished the top with many layers of Danish oil to make it ready for its new home.
Why buy me? I offer a great opportunity to own a gorgeous, stylish and useful example of mid century Danish design without a hefty price tag. I will look utterly fabulous in a contemporary home, and will provide the perfect solution to both entertaining and everyday, family meals.
