Description
A stylish and well-designed, space-saving, dining table dating from the 1960’s. Perfectly proportioned for smaller living spaces the dining element folds down to console table size when not in use. It can also be used in its half size (just one leaf raised) for 2 or 3 diners. Remarkably similar in form to the 1955 design by Norwegian furniture designer Bendt Winge for Kleppes Mobelfabrikk. This is a particularly unusual and striking example owing to the use of Beech rather than Teak or Rosewood. The lighter, blonde-coloured wood adds to the Scandinavian feel of this elegant, well-considered design.
This is in very good vintage condition, there is a small patch of slight surface bloom near one corner of the tabletop. We are guessing that this is a heat mark. It is not particularly noticeable and we do not feel that it impairs the overall aesthetic of the piece. As such, we have opted to clean and polish the table rather than strip and refinish it and this has been reflected in the price. Please study the photographs for a good representation of the condition. As with most pre-loved furniture with a history, the odd scratch or bruise should be expected.
