Description

A handsome mid century glazed bookcase/cabinet/sideboard in Walnut. Produced in the 1960’s by Morris of Glasgow the cabinet has a really good weight and quality construction to it with dovetailed joints to the frame and good quality heavy glass doors. The wooden doors are fully hinged with piano hinges, adding to a quality construction feel. The size is really versatile, its narrow depth and long length mean that it has presence without being imposing. The internal shelves are easily adjustable, or removable, by simply moving the wooden support pegs to different holes. Both glazed doors slide easily and are free from chips.
We think the piece offers lots of flexible storage and display capabilities as a bookcase, drinks cabinet, sideboard, TV stand etc. It can easily be accommodated into either entrance hall, living, dining or bedroom styling.
Why Buy Me? Handsome, slim and versatile with clean mid century lines and an aesthetically pleasing light tone and depth to the walnut.

In 1947 Morris of Glasgow became the favoured supplier of Royalty and was commissioned to design and fit a special bedroom suite for the Queen and Prince Philip as a royal wedding gift. The wood was taken from the Balmoral estate and then sent to their first home at Clarence House. Today the furniture resides in Sandringham Castle. Eighteen years later Morris again performed the same role fitting Her Majesty’s namesake ocean liner, the QE2.
In 1958 Morris Furniture was involved in the festival of Britain exhibiting all that was good in British furniture and in 1963 Neil Morris won many design awards for his famous Bambi chair and Clouds occasional tables. Even today collectors seek these valued and exceptional designs.
In 1970 Morris won contracts to supply British Embassies with desks and cabinets continuing their great heritage through office furniture.

In good pre-loved condition with just the odd scratch or graze (nothing particularly notable) commensurate with age. Please study the photos for a detailed description and message me if you require any further information or images.
